TWD: Chocolate Pudding...

Now, I must say I was extremely excited to see this week's recipe be so easy. I mean, who can screw up chocolate pudding? Well, to answer that question (even though there is no answer really needed) - it would be ME. At this point, I will also admit to laughing at a few other blogs I saw that said their chocolate pudding was screwed up as well. Never in a 1000 years did I even begin to think mine would be one of them. Hold on a minute, yes I did. If I hadn't messed it up the blog name wouldn't even apply.

So, on to the recipe itself. I think one of the rules is that it cannot post the recipe. Which I understand since everyone needs to buy this book (no commission for that comment, I promise)... I got mine from Amazon for a very good price.

It is fairly simple. I do suggest reading the entire recipe through first. Even though I suggest that I am not a person that does this. It seems to be more fun doing things on the fly, you know, by the seat of your pants. Baking is not conducive to this, so somewhere I will have to grow some patience and the ability to read. haha :) Thankfully, I am recently married, so I managed to have everything utensil wise. I was super excited to break out the new food processor. I think my husband is secretly jealous that I am the one that got to enjoy taking it out of the box. haha

My recipe tasted wonderful, but was a little uh, liquid-y still even after an overnight in the fridge. My husband pointed out the I should have been measuring by weight instead of volume. I was unaware, and still that might not have been the problem, but it did make a huge difference. The one thing we've missed out on is a scale in the kitchen. Yes, I know that's a huge faux pas... I cannot claim to have a well stocked kitchen, or a kitchen period, without having a scale. It just wasn't something we got, but I guarantee you I will have one before the end of the weekend.

I did not find out my pudding was runny until after I'd made the whipped cream to go with it. Now that was something that almost whooped my tail. The picture is the aftermath... there's a good story to go with it as well. This is actual where I commissioned the help of the hub-bub (anything to get him off the couch)... He turned out to be a huge help. Unfortunately, it looks as if our efforts wasn't rewarded. My pudding is still runny after some "thickening" help, some heat, some cool, anything to keep the dream alive.

It was the best chocolate soup with whipped cream I have ever had. I am going to attempt this one again because I will not accept failure. I went as far as to call for the hubby to help. And, as always, he came to my rescue. Did I mention I gave him the hard work? I have next to no grip in my hands, so whisking is a chore - to say the least... poor thing, always does what I ask.

So, today when I went to get my whipped cream out of the fridge, I realized we left it in the freezer - overnight. The picture below is me holding the glass bowl full of whipped cream with the spoon frozen in it. All I could do was giggle. This was the perfect way to end the great Chocolate pudding debacle of 2008. :)

When I went to upload the pictures from the compact flash, and my laptop hard drive popped out. How funny is that? Not only can i screw it up in the kitchen, but i can screw it up elsewhere as well. Thank God for the 3 yr on-site tech support!

Next week I am going to catch up on the last 2 weeks of TWD and hopefully get those scones done first!

Hmmm. Chocolate soup. Not necessarily a travesty, as long as it tasted good. Glad you're going to give the recipe another shot.

I had chocolate soup as well! It was delicious! I ended up sticking it in the freezer, and after a little thaw it was delicious!

You poor thing :) I like that you had such a good attitude about the whole thing and carried on inspite of your chocolate soup. Maybe you forgot to add the corn flour in the beginning process? I have done that before not to mention using expired yeast to make cinnamon rolls with my mom lol. Good luck hun and I absolutely love the pic of your hubby in the kitchen. Does he do seminars on how to be a good hubby and help the wife in the kitchen? lol..I am going to show my husband this post so maybe he will come cook with me. I look forward to your post next week and hey, don't forget to read the recipe ALL the way through. :)
