The Introduction

I figure I should introduce myself first. My name is Heather. As the profile will tell you, I am a 20 something newlywed to a 30 something. Our world revolves around food, and not just any food, but really great food! I could tell you about my tortured childhood and the mishaps of the 20s up 'til now. But, I believe starting with where my life began might be much simpler. And, as my life began when I started dating my husband, that is where we will start. That is only since I do have him to blame for my ever strengthening fascination with food. He is a regular at home gourmet although he'd never admit to it. He just says he knows how to read directions.

I must admit that my culinary adventures prior to 2004 were a little hit & miss. I am a born and raised Southern girl. And do not get me wrong by that statement, just because those of you outside of the South think we're dumb and incapable does not mean we are. Nor does it mean we are not afforded the same culinary experiences as the rest of the world. I do believe our true creativity shines when it comes to food, as we tend to use everything from the head to the tail and the parts in between. I have traveled a large portion of the country, but still long for the southern cuisine. That is more my specialty. However, my travels have given me a taste for the extraordinary. This taste is what has led me to start the blog in a mild attempt to recreate some of what I've seen here at home. Because let's be honest, what good is it if you can't have it at home in your pjs on that rainy or cold day when you just don't want to leave the house? No good what-so-ever.

I have full intention of updating this blog weekly. However, I am a busy, working woman that attends school in the evenings (yes, even during the summer months). The blog itself will encompass the food areas of my being. With that being said, what better place to start than home, right? Since I live with in distance to Columbia, Charleston, & Myrtle Beach, great food is never more than a road trip or an evening out. Or dining in is ALWAYS an option. I am also starting to strengthen my photography skills, so this is definitely a learning experience for me all around.

Stay tuned as I start my culinary adventures.
